The game apps now available on iPhone hark back to my youth, they are literally ports of games that I grew up playing. Games like Wolfenstein 3D and Doom broke the ground for all the first person shooters that followed.

Sim city, Civilization, Bomberman and many others just scratch the surface.

Strategy games like Command and Conquer take a bit of getting used to on the small screen (but would be very impressive on the iPads big screen), for fans of the genre it is more than enough to have their old favourites accessible in their pocket at any time.

Fighting games like Blades of Fury can keep you busy for your full commute to work, and are handy for those long waits at the Doctors office.

True, playing games is not the most productive use of your time as there are plenty of business apps for the iPhone you could be using to increase your productivity. Without a break to relax every now and then, as the saying goes ‘all work and no play make Jack a dull boy’.

Take a trip down memory lane of old arcade and PC games and see what you can find. I am currently hooked AGAIN on Civilization, and if they ever release Fallout or UFO: Enemy Unknown on the iPhone, well I am sure to be busy on every commute to work!

Searching through your iPhones app store link just isn’t as effective as searching through the iTunes store on your computer. The search is way better through your computer and you also see proper reviews of the games at the same time. Top ten lists give you a good idea of what’s available and in some cases games that are to be released in the coming months.

Share the best games you have found for the iPhone so we all can experience the best of the apps on offer!
